Rivendell

Alone he traveled the Great East Road,
Alone yet he whistled to lighten the load.
He met some elves who wished him well,
And brought him to visit fair Rivendell.

He could not sleep one fine starry night
So he wandered the house when they turned out the light.
And down in the cellar, his eyes bright and fell
Was a man encaged in an iron cell.

That villain so crafty spoke soothing words
And Clip did not fear him: he had his sword.
At long last our hero grew over-bold:
The villain grabbed him and knocked him cold.

And so he escaped with Clip's special sword,
But Clip was forgiven, yet sternly warned.
Then Clip left the Valley, and crossed the High Pass -
Through many adventures reached Mirkwood at last.
