Meanwhile our hero had loaded his wagon
And headed for Bree where he hoped for a flagon
Of good stout brew at the Prancing Pony
- And friends to share it, for he felt quite lonely.
He entered the Pony, surprising its master,
Who suddenly wished he'd sent mail faster.
But Clip took his mail and smiled with delight,
And ran for his room, his eyes full and bright.
He opened the package and found a necklace
Of Mithril, True-Silver, which made him so joyous
He jumped and cavorted and waved the letter
Which labeled the necklace 'replacement treasure'.
So he slipped the necklace under his shirt
And whistled gaily, unaware she'd been hurt,
Then walked downstairs to the Common Room,
Thirsty and eager for Barliman's brew.
