What is This?

Is that a light shining?
It is the first star that I see tonight.
It shimmers and beckons to me as if,
in it were held all we know of brightness.

I for one wind a rope which is a tapestry,
In my mind and in my chest.
The colors and the strings ripple,
as the light of the one star upon them infuses glory.

Breaking off a branch from a tree,
I lean upon it to further see and be seen,
In the light which makes me humble,
More humble than I ever thought I could be.

My cloak is thick about me in the wind,
It has become a tattered cloth from the journey,
The rain has soaked it through and through,
Why does it bear so heavily upon me when it too is bright?

Under the star is that a light shining?
It is beckoning to me, through the fog from the storm.
Why does the tapestry in my heart weave lighter?
What is this? What is this?

It is to Imladris, I have come.
It is to Imladris I have come.
And all the light of the one star in me has come to Imladris,
To visit all the lights among the stars no longer far--distant.
It is to Imaldris I have come, and my work is done.

Welcome stars! To the earth below! To all the world around..
And most especially to my home, fair Imladris.

Stars we adore you, small and bright!
Welcome stars..
Welcome.
